10 Mar Anne Et Valentin Range
If you ask the crew at Eyestyle to pick their favourite frame of the moment it’s a pretty good chance they’ll show you an Anne et Valentin. We have loved this collection from the first moment we saw it over 10 years ago and it’s fair to say that it graces more faces in our stores than any other brand.
The Toulouse based design duo has been creating innovative frames since 1980. What sets them apart is the diversity of their collection. Most collections have a single look to them with individual styles being repetitions on a theme. Anne et Valentin set out to create frames that were as diverse as their customers. A concept they created born of frustration with the same old, same old, offerings of mainstream frame manufacturers.
Their collection is broken in to families with a central design motif and a collection of shapes, sizes and colours. At any time there may be up to 15 different families in the collection.
They can take inspiration from mundane everyday items such as a paper clip or find it in the world of music crafting frames to honour artists such as The Clash or The Cure.
Their use of materials is as innovative as their trade mark use of colour. From combinations of acetate and titanium to models produced with semi-finished elements. Each family takes on its own unique aesthetic.
The latest collection features frames such as the Christy with its dramatic upsweep softened by pale pink hues.
The K series of Kodak, Kodex and Kroma features one of the best neutral colour combinations we have seen.
We also love the use of texture in the O series with both matte and gloss finishes in block colours. This look is striking in its simplicity.
Every year we marvel at the creations of this talented French duo and every year we find ourselves with fabulous new French glasses.
