28 Sep KAREN WALKER LAUNCHES MEN’S EYEWEAR

One of New Zealand’s highest profile fashion designers, Karen Walker started with $100 in her pocket and a head full of dreams. The label hit headlines when Madonna wore a pair of her ‘killer pants’ at the 1998 MTV awards, and in 2000 Karen Walker became the first New Zealander to have a solo show at New York Fashion Week. Tailored, modern and androgynous, with an emphasis on cut, the label’s fan base includes Charlize Theron, Anne Hathaway, Alexa Chung, Florence Welch and Rihanna.
Now Karen Walker is expanding her eyewear empire, with the launch of men’s sunglasses. The new brand called Monumental by Karen Walker joins her popular Karen Walker Eyewear range.

The initial release features six styles available in clear, black horn and tortoiseshell acetates, and silver and gold metal. Each is named after a ‘monumental man’: Voltaire, Hemingway, Pablo, Julius, Buzz and Oscar.
